Beautiful sandy beaches, welcoming bars and restaurants, shope galore, a whole host of watersports and sun – the seaside town of Alassio is a real crowd-pleaser. Situated on the westwern coast of Liguria in Northern Italy, this charming former fishing village is a wonderful place to while away your days, whether it’s soaking up the sun on the beach, windsurfing, treating yourself to a delicious seafood lunch or strolling along the promenade for the evening passeggiata (an Italian tradition). Need a break from the sun? Pay a visit to Villa Della Pergola and its winsome landscaped gardens. Used in the Alfred Hitchock’s films: The Pleasure Garden and The Snorkel, there is all sorts of film memorabilia to explore, and the building is really rather picturesque. And finally, don’t leave without trying Alassio’s speciality – the Bacci di Alassio. Small macaroons filled with chocolate, hazelnuts and rum, they really are like kisses from heaven.
