Italian Lakes luxury villa with heated pool – Villa San Giulio is a superb, prestigious villa just a short drive from the attractive village of Orta San Giulio on the east side of the beautiful and as yet relatively undiscovered Lake Orta. Smaller than the more famous Maggiore, Como and Garda, this scenic, peaceful lake makes an ideal destination for a relaxing holiday.

Dating from the 17th century, the villa retains evocative original features such as wooden flooring, large fireplaces, coffered and frescoed ceilings and a romantic covered walkway. The owners renovated the property in 2012, and have created a tasteful and luxurious blend of ancient and modern features, including a stunning heated indoor pool with small spa and Turkish bath.
There is a special atmosphere in this area that you cannot fail to notice. The villa itself is located in the heart of Vacciago, an unspoilt village overlooking the lake.  The house is attached on one side to the village church with a bell which chimes during the day - not too loudly!  The church is open to visitors but no longer used for services.  On the other side of the house, within a few metres is a small local shop where you will find all the essentials, and you will find plenty of restaurants and more shops at nearby Orta San Giulio. Considered to be one of Italy’s most beautiful villages, it stands on the slopes of Sacro Monte, a steep, sacred hill that juts out into the lake offering a spectacular view from the top. You can also take a boat out to the island in the middle of the lake: home to an ancient monastery which you can visit, you can stroll around the island and enjoy a meal in the restaurant here. There are lake beaches at Orta San Giulio and elsewhere around the lake, and plenty of opportunities for sports and day trips in the surrounding area.

“ What a well-kept secret; visitors are reluctant to tell their friends about the beauty of this region as they want to keep it to themselves! This is a wonderful, magical area. Just a few kilometres from the villa is the little town of Orta San Giulio with its cobbled streets and numerous small restaurants and bars. There's an amazing view across to Isola San Giulio. It's easy to visit the island - you can catch a boat from the square - and it is a must if you are here for any length of time. This villa is truly magical and offers everything you need for “a typical Italian experience”.  In the evening you can sip wine or Prosecco in the cool of the courtyard, or enjoy the view of Isola San Giulio from upstairs: the view becomes even more romantic when the island is lit up at night. Just a short stroll down the road is the small ristorante/bistro “Hotel Britain” - perfect if you don't want to cook after a day out on the lake. Staying at this villa is an experience you will not regret, I highly recommend it! ”

  • We would thoroughly recommend this divine Villa

Just returned to Australia in the past few days. I am happy to give you some of our thoughts about Villa San Guilio. We were met by the charming & extremely helpful owners who organised a cook for a memorable dinner during the week plus booked a day cruise on Lake Maggiore . We also enjoyed the local wine & fruit that he had left for us. The Villa was just gorgeous & we had many delightful evenings having a drink in the Courtyard . The facilities in the Villa were great for washing and cooking. We went for some lovely walks to neighbouring villages. We loved the little shop next door where we bought fresh bread , cheese etc each day. We would thoroughly recommend this divine Villa.

  • Truly fantastic villa -
