Luxury waterfront villa near Stresa – Part of an exclusive gated domain on the shores of Lake Maggiore, this luxury waterfront villa boasts its own private beach, jetty, heated pool, tennis court and practice golf course, all within walking distance of the local shops and restaurants. Ideal for a family holiday in the Italian Lake District, Villa Lavinia is a sophisticated villa equipped with all modern comforts and surrounded by a lavish garden and flat lawns. The large, heated pool is just a stone’s throw away from the covered patio and provides the perfect spot for those relaxing moments during an otherwise active holiday. Flower beds and colourful shrubs adorn this enchanting garden which benefits from an exceptionally mild micro-climate where tropical species thrive.

In this haven of peace and tranquillity you can also try the sports equipment provided. In fact, here you will find all you can wish for: from tennis and volley-ball to golf and soccer, from canoeing to water skiing and sailing. Helicopter trips are also available for the ultimate holiday experience of heli-golf, heli-restaurants and heli-trekking! A few miles away from Villa Lavinia is the elegant resort of Stresa with a lively lakeside promenade, beautiful belle époque buildings and excellent restaurants. Regular boat trips departing from the harbour will take you to the three spectacular Borromean Islands (Isola Bella, Isola Madre and Isola dei Pescatori), where some of the finest Baroque palaces owned by the noble Borromeo family, with their landscaped, botanic gardens and exotic birds, are open to the public for visits throughout the summer.

Among the landmarks of this lake, Rocca d’Angera proudly towers over the east bank: an ancient Roman castle rebuilt during the Renaissance, today it houses interesting collections of toys, dolls and miniature furniture. Further along the lake, tucked away among the rocks, is also the attractive 14th century monastery of Santa Caterina del Sasso. Mount Mottarone, standing 1494m high above Stresa, would make another exciting destination for a day trip. Depending on how energetic you feel you can choose to climb to the mountain top or take the cable-car and enjoy the magnificent view of the two lakes (Maggiore and d’Orta). For an adrenaline-packed experience, you can even come down the mountain at high speed in the Alpyland roller coaster

Insider Tips

“I can highly recommend visiting Lago Maggiore where I spent much of my life. Villa Lavinia is the perfect place in which to relax in luxury and enjoy your stay in one of the most beautiful places in the Italian Lake District. There is so much to see and do from visiting palaces, villas and gardens to markets, local festivals and concerts. There are walks, horse riding, mountain biking- trekking, water skiing, sailing, lake cruises and so on The Isole Borromee (Isola Bella, Isola dei Pescatori and Isola Madre) are three small islands that can easily be reached by boat from Stresa, not far from the villa. Stresa is an elegant lakeside town, lined with interesting local shops selling Murano glass; in the evenings, gentle Italian violinists serenade the local restaurant-goers. Among the many excellent restaurants on the lake one of my favorites is Ristorante Milano in Pallanza, easily reachable by boat. Another one is Ristorante Bella Vista in Meina, near Villa Lavinia, serving great Italian food.”

  • Fantastic villa

    Mr Smith

Fantastic villa with superb pool, golf course and tennis court as well as the boat and pontoon. A few tiny niggles, such as the tv not having a working hdmi port which meant we couldn’t plug any devices into it but apart from that it was excellent.
