Overlooking what has been called the finest coastal lagoon in North Africa, Oualidia in Morocco, is a perfect destination any time of the year, with an average of 320 days of sunshine a year. This crescent-shaped lagoon, with golden sands and extremely calm waters, is the perfect place to relax, contemplate and be amazed by flocks of migrating birds. Flamingos and marbled ducks are amongst the species here in Spring and Autumn – a real spectacle. You can even do a spot of whale watching between August and October. In need of some activities? From wind and kite surfing to canoeing, cycling, hiking and swimming you are spoilt for choice. In the village itself you’ll find the main street lined with shops, cafes and some fantastic restaurants. For an area that’s famous for oysters, they are a regular on the menus. There’s also a Saturday souk to soak up some peaceful Moroccan atmosphere - a far cry from the souks of Marrakesh.
